PROCESS SIMULATION MODELING

Example of Process Simulation Modeling

1. Situation:
  • A chemical manufacturer needed a new evaporator to concentrate a reagent for recycle to their batch reactor train. The client wanted to investigate the impact on equipment size/cost when using rising film vs. falling film design and use of hot water vs. steam.
  • The re-circulation loop flow needed to be determined to provide adequate tube wall wetting on the Falling Film Evaporator.

Examples Of Process Simulation Modeling

2. Cost for Model Development:
  • The cost for this modeling effort was $10,000.
3. Benefits to the client:
  • Energy saving options were investigated.
  • A cost effective design was chosen.
  • Equipment size was determined.
  • All process data was generated for specification and bids. (This included throughputs and heat loads.)
  • Key performance parameters were established.
