CONTROLS ARCHITECHTURE MODELING
|
Controls Architecture Layout Modeling
1. Situation:
- Controls Architectures seem to be the most under estimated and forgotten portion of most projects.
- With most clients, there seems to be a case where a project is begun and the AFE is approved, the controls personnel are asked to get involved. When they do get involved, the following is the outcome:
- The hardware is limited and will not allow Equipment Vendors easy integration into their systems.
- Equipment System Standards and HMIs are always a Point of Question.
2. Cost for Model Development:
- Modeling the Controls Architecture, show I/O, HMIs, Network Drops and PLC Devices tend to be relatively easy to assemble. Most Systems cost less than $5,000 to model.
3. Client Benefits:
- Better project coordination.
- Less changes in the field.
- Long lead-time items purchased upfront.
- Integration of Multiple Controls Systems coordinated upfront and defined by all (Suppliers & End Users); fewer conflicts as project progresses.
More accurate initial estimates.
- Plant personnel are better able to support project.
